Overview
How do we as a society come to terms on abortion? What would it take to get a coalition of the reasonable to find a path forward that we can agree on?
Note: This page was created largely to present a relatively non-controversial example of "Discussion Table Stakes."
Discussion Table Stakes
To have a productive discussion about abortion, the table stakes might be:
- Try to minimize the number of abortions that happen each year.
- Try to minimize the number of unwanted births that happen each year.
- Try to maximize bodily autonomy of sapient beings.
- Recognize and accept that the human condition includes occasional bouts of bad judgment.
Common Ground
Some examples of things that anyone who accepts the table stakes above should be able to agree on:
- Rape should be minimized.
- Unwanted pregnancies should be prevented.
